But a strategic position only matters if you have the military strength, economic capacity, and political influence to actually use it.

If you lack the ability to convert that advantage into real power, then holding a strategic flashpoint can sometimes become more of a burden than a benefit.

And here’s where it becomes controversial: a superpower like China is far more capable of leveraging a position like this than a smaller country.

So the question is no longer who is right or wrong, but this: who has the capacity to turn the Paracels into a strategic advantage, and who is simply holding a liability?

China is not just building robots that look like humans. It is removing the final barriers to war.

In traditional warfare, there have always been three limits.

First, casualties. When soldiers die, public pressure builds, forcing governments to reconsider.

Second, human hesitation.
People can panic, feel fear, and pull back.

Third, deniability.
When captured, there is identity, evidence, and testimony.

But with robots, all three limits disappear.

No casualties.
No fear.
No testimony.

More importantly, China has the capability to mass-produce them at low cost, something no other country can match.

The question is no longer, “Should we test it?” but “Why haven’t we?”

When risk approaches zero, war is no longer something to avoid.
It becomes something to experiment with.

And the easiest places to test it are those closest next door.

Before he had power, Donald Trump was a system disruptor. He opposed the elites, rejected globalization, challenged traditional politics, and spoke out against war. He stood outside the system and attacked it from every direction.

But once he entered the White House, everything changed. He was no longer breaking the system. He was using it.
Using state power to reshape the rules, intervene militarily, and pressure allies to serve his objectives.

And this is not just the story of one man or one party.
Anyone who holds power must operate within the logic of power.

In politics, the real question is not who holds power, but what happens when they do.

Power does not change people. It reveals who they truly are.

Why are Gulf countries repeatedly attacked by Iran yet still fear Iran’s collapse?

If Iran collapses, Israel would emerge as the dominant power in the Middle East, putting the Gulf under pressure.

Iran and Israel are not just adversaries.
They are also restraining each other and the Gulf benefits from that balance.

And there is a more important reality.

Washington needs to maintain military bases in the Gulf to contain Tehran.
If the Iranian threat disappears, the Gulf loses its strategic value in the eyes of the United States along with the security guarantees and economic benefits that come with it.

That is why the Gulf does not want Iran to be destroyed. They only want it to be contained. Because in politics, your enemy can sometimes be the most reliable foundation you have.

Russia is pulling Vietnam into a bigger game with China that most people don’t see.

Russia and China appear to be closely aligned. But that alignment is only temporary.

Two ambitious powers sharing a common border cannot maintain peace indefinitely.
Conflict will return. It is not a question of if, but when.

Look at the map. Vietnam sits right next to China.
When that moment comes, Russia will use Vietnam as a strategic lever.

This is the real reason behind Russia’s continued supply of weapons and nuclear energy cooperation with Vietnam.

When a Russia–China conflict unfolds, Moscow will not need to persuade Hanoi.
It will simply activate what has already been put in place.

Vietnam will become a position from which pressure can be applied against China.
Perhaps even the starting point of a conflict few are willing to imagine.

Vietnam can’t fully trust Russia. It may sound wrong… but look at 1979.

China has influence through trade, supply chains, and geography.
Its interests are tightly tied to Vietnam’s stability.

But Russia controls something else: weapons.
Most of Vietnam’s military equipment comes from Russia, creating a dependency that is extremely difficult to replace.
If Russia were to change its position, Vietnam’s ability to fight could be seriously weakened.

In 1978, Vietnam signed a treaty allowing the Soviet Union to station forces at Cam Ranh Bay.
But in 1979, when the China-Vietnam War broke out, despite being an ally, the Soviet Union did not send troops to defend Vietnam.

China may apply pressure, but it cannot walk away from Vietnam, because its interests are deeply tied to this region.
Russia, on the other hand, is far away. It does not need Vietnam to develop.
It only needs Vietnam to remain within its system.

Is Russia truly a reliable partner or is it simply keeping Vietnam in a long-term dependency?

The fear small countries never talk about. The most frightening thing is not war. It is facing war alone. Small countries often rely on powerful nations to guarantee their security. But alliances only last as long as interests align.

In 1938, Britain and France did not defend Czechoslovakia against Nazi Germany.
In 1975, the United States withdrew from Vietnam.
In 2021, the U.S. left Afghanistan.

Each time, the same lesson returned. When the cost of war becomes too high, even the strongest allies may walk away. That is why small countries constantly try to become more strategically important. Because the greatest fear in international politics is not war. It is being left alone when the war begins.

Why do superpowers constantly prepare for war, yet rarely fight each other directly?

Whenever superpowers confront each other head-on, the consequences are devastating: two world wars in the past, and today the risk of nuclear destruction.

Now there is another constraint.
Superpowers are deeply tied together through global supply chains, and a direct war could collapse the entire world economy.

So instead of confronting each other directly, they compete through proxy wars.

Conflicts where they stand behind the scenes, supplying weapons, money, and political backing.

Superpowers do not avoid war because they love peace.

They avoid it because a war between them could destroy themselves.

And that is why the greatest rivalries between superpowers are often fought on smaller battlefields.

If war is the worst outcome in international politics, why do countries still decide to start one?

In 2022, Russia launched a military campaign in Ukraine.
From the outside, the decision looked extremely risky.

But from Moscow’s perspective, the real issue was time.

Ukraine was moving increasingly closer to the West.
NATO weapons were beginning to appear.
Ukraine’s military was becoming better trained and better equipped.

If Russia waited another ten years, the balance of power could change completely. Ukraine might even become a direct threat to Russia.

In Russia’s strategic thinking, the window of opportunity was closing.

And when a country believes that waiting will only make it weaker, war can begin to look rational.

Wars rarely start because someone truly wants them.

They begin when one side believes that doing nothing is more dangerous than taking action.

Can Vietnam Break Away From Russia? The answer, for now, seems to be no.

Su-27s, Su-30s. Kilo-class submarines. Bastion coastal missile systems.

Many of Vietnam’s most important military platforms originate from Russia or the former Soviet Union.

Once an entire military structure is built around those systems, replacing them is not simple. The transition could take decades.

If Russia were to stop supplying spare parts and technical support, Vietnam would face serious operational challenges.

That is why Vietnam often appears supportive of Russia in international affairs. Not because of friendship, but because of dependence.

Hanoi is also aware of the risks that come with relying too heavily on a single supplier. That is why it has gradually begun purchasing weapons from a wider range of countries.

But in a world defined by intense power competition, a larger question remains:

Can any country easily break away from a weapons system it has depended on for generations?

Why doesn’t China sell weapons to Vietnam, even though the two countries share a border?
China is the world’s fourth-largest arms producer.
Its weapons are cheaper than those from the West, and the shipping distance is far shorter.

Vietnam is a country that often shifts its strategic alignment.
It was once backed by China, but later leaned toward the Soviet Union during the Sino-Soviet split.

When the Soviet Union collapsed, Vietnam moved to improve relations with China.
And today, it is increasingly engaging with the United States.

For Beijing, that makes it difficult to sell sensitive weapons systems to Vietnam.

But the story doesn’t end there.

Hanoi is just as cautious.
Modern weapons are not just metal and explosives.
They also involve software, data, spare parts, and maintenance.

Depending on a rival for your weapons supply is always a strategic risk.

China doesn’t truly want to sell.
And Vietnam doesn’t truly want to buy.

Because in international politics, the most dangerous thing is not always an enemy.
Sometimes, it is a partner you cannot fully trust.

If China truly wants to reunify Taiwan, why hasn’t it attacked yet?

The answer is simple: Beijing is waiting for the right strategic moment.

First, a clear military advantage in the Taiwan Strait.
China wants to be certain that if war breaks out, the United States and its allies will hesitate to intervene.

Second, a distracted United States.
Throughout history, great powers tend to act when their rivals are busy dealing with crises elsewhere.

Third, minimizing the economic damage.
Taiwan sits at the center of the global semiconductor industry.
A war could shatter the global chip supply chain and trigger massive economic sanctions against China.

So Beijing hasn’t attacked Taiwan not because it doesn’t want to.

It’s because China is waiting for a moment when victory is nearly certain and the cost of war is as low as possible.

If no one wants war, why is every nation preparing for war?

The United States says it is preserving peace in the Taiwan Strait. China says it is defending its sovereignty. Vietnam says it is modernizing for self-defense. Everyone insists: we do not want conflict.

Yet the United States increases arms sales. China expands military exercises. Military bases grow. Navies become stronger. When one side strengthens its defenses, the other sees a threat. And it responds by preparing even more. No one believes they are the aggressor. Everyone believes they are simply defending themselves.

This is the trap of war. Wars do not begin because someone longs for them. They begin when one side believes that if it does not strike first, it will lose.

And when fear outweighs restraint, war is no longer a choice.
It becomes inevitable.

What makes the United States willing to risk war over a small island like Taiwan?

Taiwan sits at the strategic chokepoint that constrains China’s naval ambitions.
If Beijing gains control of the island, the first island chain would collapse, allowing China to break free from strategic containment.

Beyond geography, Taiwan is the world’s leading hub for advanced semiconductor manufacturing.
The foundation of AI, modern weapons systems, and the future global economy.

Losing Taiwan would mean the United States surrendering a critical technological advantage to its primary strategic rival.

But the decisive factor is credibility.
If Washington fails to defend Taiwan, its credibility would collapse in the eyes of its allies, forcing them to shift toward new alliances not led by the United States.

And when neither Washington nor Beijing can afford to abandon the island, the question is no longer whether conflict will occur.
It is where and when the point of collision will emerge.

Is the United States protecting Taiwan… or preparing another Ukraine in Asia?

Washington has increased arms sales, military training, and intelligence sharing with Taiwan.
A pattern that looked familiar before the war in Ukraine.

But Taiwan is an island.
If conflict erupts, Ukraine-style aid may never arrive in time.

That is why the United States is not turning Taiwan into another Ukraine.
Washington is turning Taiwan into a deterrent fortress, where any attack would impose severe military, economic, and political costs on China.

But if deterrence fails…
Could the United States defend Taiwan the way it supported Ukraine?

No country is truly neutral in a global power competition.
There are only nations that have not been fully trusted to become enduring allies.

Vietnam shifted sides once.

In politics, once is enough.

From Beijing’s perspective, Vietnam forgot what China once provided.

That memory has left Beijing with a permanent layer of strategic skepticism.

So is Vietnam’s neutrality today a wise strategy of balance-of-power diplomacy?

Or is it the price of a history that makes no bloc willing to place a long-term bet?

Vietnam once turned away from its largest patron.

When China and the Soviet Union split, Vietnam was forced to choose.

And it leaned toward Moscow.

Cam Ranh became a Soviet military base.

In Beijing’s strategic thinking, this was not merely a diplomatic decision.

It was a profound strategic reversal.

A country once seen as a frontline ally had now allowed China’s primary rival to establish a military presence right along its border.

From that moment, a conclusion began to take shape inside Beijing’s strategic mindset.

Vietnam was not a reliable ally.

And that was only the beginning.

China once cultivated Vietnam as a strategic ally.
So what did Vietnam do to lose that trust?

In the early years of its statehood, Beijing was Hanoi’s most critical backer.
Weapons. Training. Logistics.

China was the first country to officially recognize the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

When the Soviet Union hesitated, Mao Zedong personally stepped in to vouch for Vietnam in Moscow.

It was Beijing that opened the door for Hanoi to enter the global socialist system.

From China’s perspective, this was not merely support.
It was a long-term strategic investment.

And in politics, every investment comes with expectations.

But then Vietnam made a choice that fundamentally altered the entire structure of trust.

Treating China’s preparation to attack Taiwan as someone else’s problem could be the greatest strategic mistake small nations make.

If China attacks Taiwan, the war will not stop at the Strait. The world will split into two competing power blocs. And at that moment, you will no longer be fully free in your decisions.

Align with China.
Align with the United States and Taiwan.These are difficult choices.

But more dangerous than choosing is failing to prepare.

Because if you do not act proactively, circumstances will decide for you. And when you are forced to choose under pressure, it is rarely the best option. Those who fail to move early often enter negotiations from a weaker position.

Gradually, you no longer make decisions based on your own interests, but in response to external pressure.

Stay alert. The right to self-determination does not disappear in a single shock. It erodes over time until the choices left are no longer truly yours.
